Dogs learn by repetition, association, and reward. In other words when a dog finds something rewarding, it will do it again in order to obtain the reward. This then becomes habit. For everything your dog does, whether you want it to or not! Ask yourself the question; ‘Why does he/she do this?’ The answer is ‘Because the dog finds it rewarding!’ Example: Dog barks – Owner shouts at dog, dog gets attention, this it finds rewarding and so then becomes habit formed. In fact, the words and inflection used probably over time becomes to the dog stimulus to cause it to bark!

Training your dog should be fun! Fun for you and fun for your dog.  At Happydogsnortheast no one will humiliate you for making mistakes. No one will banish you for having an unruly dog. You will be given help, sensible guidance, and shown training techniques that will help improve your relationship with your dog.
